SAN ANTONIO, Texas, Nov. 17, 2016––State Sen. José Menéndez, San Antonio, in conjunction with the Texas Historical Commission (THC) recognized Broadway Bank as a Texas Treasure Business Award winner. The Texas Treasure Business Award program pays tribute to businesses that have provided employment opportunities and support to the state’s economy for 50 years or more. This is a significant achievement as Broadway Bank is celebrating 75 years of good in 2016.

I’m here because I love that tagline, ‘we’re here for good.’ It has a double meaning. On one hand it means, Broadway Bank isn't going anywhere. It also means they are here to do good, be a good influence and a member of the community," said Senator Menendez. "If you know the leadership of Broadway Bank, you know that for 75 years they’ve done more than just take deposits and make loans, they’ve helped people. They’ve done good work.”

Created in 2005 and coordinated through the THC, the Texas Treasure Business Award program has recognized more than 300 businesses. “It’s always about family and it’s great to have the Cheever family here. Our award recipients are wellmanaged businesses. They are focused on the customers and committed to and good at what they do,” said Vaughn Aldredge, Texas Historical Commission Government Relations Specialist. Every business we’ve ever researched and honored, like Broadway Bank, has been involved in the community and no matter what they give back and they are committed to their employees.”

The presentation highlighted an all-employee meeting at the Broadway Bank headquarters in San Antonio. Among the family members there to receive the award were Jim Goudge, Broadway Bank chairman; Sara Goudge Brouillard, Family Business Resource Center manager; Suzanne Cheever Goudge, board member and Charles E. Cheever Jr., the bank’s chairman emeritus.

We are honored to be included in this list of businesses that have longevity and reputations for doing good for our community. We’ve been celebrating our 75th anniversary this year, so this award is particularly meaningful as we continue to put our community, customers and employees first for another 75 years,” said Cheever, who is the son of the founders of the bank.

Family members active with Broadway Bank also include Jean Cheever, board member; Carrie Dyer, Austin advisory board member; and Chris Cheever, senior vice president, business development officer in the Private Banking Department.
