United Way has become synonymous with caring and helping children, families and individuals. Thanks to donations, it remains the largest and most respected private health and human services organization in Bexar County, supporting 133 high-quality programs and initiatives at 65 partner agencies. Leading by example, local entrepreneur and philanthropist, Harvey Najim is the 2014 United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County chairman, announcing a goal of $53.5 million this year.
Our local United Way has a long tradition of helping people with basic needs – food, clothing, shelter and safety – and changing lives through strong, well-managed programs. United Way is also engaging the community to get to the heart of problems. In the San Antonio area, United Way focuses on improving early care and education for children, helping students succeed in school, strengthening families to become more fi nancially stable and improving neighborhoods. Broadway Bank is a United Way Pacesetter Company with a goal of $250,000 for the 2014 campaign.
