Seventy-five years after Col. Charles Cheever and Betty Cheever founded Broadway National Bank with $60,000 in 1941 along Broadway Street in Alamo Heights, it has become the largest privately owned bank in San Antonio with $2.8 billion in deposits reported as of December 2015.

Each year, the Texas Business Hall of Fame selects individuals who are inducted into its hall of fame. Induction is highly coveted and the roster of potential inductees is stacked with qualified candidates. Inductees are considered based on contributions to their field and the communities in which they are active. Since its inception, the Texas Business Hall of Fame has inducted more than 175 notable business legends from around the state.

The Texas Business Hall of Fame will induct the 2016 class of Business Legends Oct. 27 at the 34th Annual Induction Dinner. This year’s list includes a prestigious selection of leaders who help make Texas strong, including Broadway Bank chairman emeritus, Charles E. Cheever Jr., Warren E. Buffett and Charles T. Munger, Dian Graves Stai, Gordon V. Hartman, Gary C. Kelly, and Dennert O. Ware.

To honor our founders, Col. Charles E. Cheever Sr. and his wife, Betty Cheever, who was a kindergarten teacher, Broadway Bank created a scholarship program in collaboration with the San Antonio Education Partnership.

In honor of our military heritage, our founders and our 75th anniversary of being “here for good,” we presented a $75,000 donation among three local militaryserving non-profit agencies. These agencies support our service members and their families at a time when they face the most difficult challenges of their lives:
