How Pint & Plow Is Brewing Something Bigger in KerrvillePouring Into Community: How Pint & Plow Is Brewing Something Bigger in Kerrville

At Pint & Plow Brewing Company, craft beer is just the beginning. Community, creativity, and connection are what truly bring people together.

On a sunny afternoon in Kerrville, the doors of Pint & Plow Brewing Company are wide open. Inside, the atmosphere is easy and inviting. Friends catching up over cold pints, the hum of conversation, fresh pastries displayed on the counter, and the unmistakable sense that this is more than just a brewery. It’s a gathering place.

For owner Jeremy Walther, that was always the goal.

After growing up in Kerrville and living some years in a larger city, Jeremy and his wife returned to their roots with a vision: to create the kind of “third space” their hometown was missing, a place where people could come together, connect, and feel a sense of belonging.

“We set out to build that place,” Walther said. “We used the brewpub model — craft beer, fresh food, coffee — but the goal was always bigger than that. It was about creating a community center for Kerrville.”

Since opening a decade ago, Pint & Plow has become exactly that – a hub for connection, creativity, and collaboration. While the business operates with the same financial discipline as any successful enterprise, Walther measures success in a different way, too: by the impact it creates beyond its walls.

“If we’re going to be a community center, then we have to ask — what impact are we making?” he said.

That question has led to the creation and support of several local initiatives, including the Kerr County River Foundation, the Kerrville Urban Trail System, and Big Seed — each designed to strengthen the fabric of the community, from environmental stewardship to youth creativity and cultural engagement.

From expanding trail systems and public art to supporting young creatives who may not fit into traditional programs, these efforts reflect a broader philosophy: when people are given space to connect and contribute, communities thrive.

Finding Opportunity in Challenge

Like many communities, Kerrville faces its own challenges. But Walther sees something deeper beneath the surface. “Every community has its positives and its struggles,” he said. “Kerrville has an overwhelming amount of good — it’s just not always obvious. Our job is to bring those things to the surface and help them grow.”

That mindset has been especially important in the wake of the devastating flood along the Guadalupe River that hit our community in 2025. The damage and pain have been significant, so too has the response. “There’s recovery happening. There’s energy, optimism, and people coming together,” Walther said. “It’s a moment in time that’s profound, but also hopeful.”

A Partnership Built on Trust

As Pint & Plow and its nonprofit foundations have grown, having the right financial partner has been key to staying focused on what matters most.

“Broadway Bank has built a level of trust that allows us to focus on our work,” Walther said. “We don’t have to worry about the banking side. We know it’s taken care of.” That trust extends beyond day-to-day transactions.

“With some banks, you get passed off to someone you’ve never met who is sometimes in another city or even another state,” he said. “With Broadway, it feels different. You’re connected to the right people locally, and they stay with you through the process. It feels like you’re taken care of from start to finish.”

“Jeremy and his team have built something special in Kerrville,” said Emona Rons, SVP, Private Banker for Broadway Bank. “Our role is to provide the support and guidance they need so they can stay focused on what they do best—bringing people together and creating meaningful impact in their community.”

An Invitation to Experience Kerrville

As Pint & Plow celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, Walther remains focused on what’s next — continuing to invest in the people and ideas that make Kerrville unique. And for those who haven’t visited recently, he has a simple invitation:

“Come to Kerrville. Come see the river. Come experience what’s happening here,” he said. “There’s so much life, so much momentum — and yes, come have a beer.”
