Broadway Bank Receives Philanthropic Award
In a celebration of Broadway Bank's unwavering commitment to philanthropy and community service, the San Antonio Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) has awarded Broadway the Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation Award as part of the 2024 National Philanthropy Day Awards banquet. This honor, awarded at the AFP luncheon on February 14, 2024, recognizes Broadway Bank's extraordinary dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals, families and communities.
The legacy of Broadway Bank's founders, Col. Charles E. Cheever and Elizabeth "Betty" Cheever, serves as the guiding force behind the bank's philanthropic endeavors. Their commitment to giving back to the community laid the foundation for Broadway Bank's strong tradition of social responsibility. Today, that legacy continues to thrive, shaping the bank's values and culture.
Broadway Bank's recognition as the Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation is a testament to the bank’s enduring dedication to corporate stewardship and community growth. The bank's impactful initiatives, spearheaded by its employee volunteer group, called Care Corps, and the Community Reinvestment team have left a lasting mark on our communities and our Bankers.
Care Corps, Broadway Bank's employee volunteer program, promotes a wide array of service activities, including educational programs, hunger prevention campaigns and support for local charities. This award highlights Broadway Bank’s remarkable contributions through Care Corps.
Broadway Bank's commitment to the community goes beyond traditional banking, thanks to the efforts of its Community Reinvestment team, which vets and identifies impactful community investments, ensuring that Broadway Bank's service includes more than financial transactions. The team not only distributes funds to support worthy causes in the community but also becomes true partners in the process of bringing those ideas to life.
Broadway Bankers can be seen actively engaging with the community, teaching financial literacy classes to students, families and businesses throughout the state. Their hands-on approach exemplifies Broadway Bank's values of being not just a financial institution but a committed partner in the holistic well-being and growth of the community.
Reflecting on this recognition, Jacob Cavazos, SVP and Community Reinvestment Manager for Broadway Bank, stated, "We are deeply honored to receive the Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals. This award is a testament to the dedication and passion of our bank leaders, board of directors and Broadway Bankers, who consistently strive to make a meaningful difference in the communities we serve. Broadway Bank is committed to continuing our legacy of philanthropy, guided by the enduring spirit of our founders Col. Charles E. Cheever and Elizabeth 'Betty' Cheever."
Last month, Broadway Bank was recognized by Newsweek as a 2024 Best Regional Bank. Broadway Bank President and Chief Banking Executive, Harvey P. Hartenstine, received the 2023 recipient of the Richard Goldsmith Volunteer Leadership Award from Crosspoint.
