Helping our communities is at the heart of what we do. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that we are once again supporting United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, United Way for Greater Austin, United Way of Comal County, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas and United Way of Greater Houston by hosting an employee-giving campaign this fall. Through our 2023 United Way Campaign, Broadway Bankers can make monetary donations to their local United Way, directly benefitting nonprofit organizations that are supporting Texas families, education and public health.
Founders Col. Charles E. Cheever Sr. and Elizabeth “Betty” Cheever envisioned an institution that not only served Texas families but also actively contributed to the betterment of our communities. Today, we are honored to continue their legacy by supporting local organizations through our Care Corps employee volunteer program, nonprofit board service, financial literacy education, scholarships and donations.
Our campaign is spearheaded by a passionate committee of bankers representing various areas of our organization that take the lead in crafting internal communications, igniting enthusiasm among teams and leaders, orchestrating engaging campaign activities and diligently monitoring the contributions.
When asked why they personally give to United Way, some of our committee members had this to say:
"I give to United Way because I want to pay it forward. United Way provided several resources for my mom, my four siblings, and me while I was growing up. Without the help of United Way, I’m not quite sure what we would have done; therefore, I am forever grateful."
Av Ron Trabue Sr.
Talent Development and Coaching Officer
"If I don’t step up to support, who will? United Way provides services to individuals from diverse backgrounds and all walks of life. Knowing my contribution will reach numerous families and open doors to many resources fills me with a profound sense of joy and purpose."
Robin Badillo
VP, Private Banking Operational Manager
“I give to United Way because it’s the right thing to do. I have seen firsthand the needs of our community and I'm proud to support their mission. Todos unidos podemos hacer la diferencia! Hoy por ti, mañana por mi.”
Dulce Abundis
Community Reinvestment Coordinator
Broadway Bank’s CEO David Bohne served as the 2021 United Way Campaign Chair, championing the efforts of the campaign that year by uniting 86 companies, organizations and United Way Impact and Community Partners. “San Antonio is a leader in United Way giving because there is a strong sense of community and generosity here,” Bohne said. “We are able to combine donor resources to lift up the community and enhance the collective capacity of people to care for one another and overcome their circumstances,” he added.
In 2022, Broadway Bank achieved a historic milestone, breaking previous records by donating $377,428.12.
