Karen's passion for Fiesta goes beyond the ordinary. Not only has she been a proud Broadway Banker since 1994, but she's also a Fiesta fanatic with an impressive medal collection spanning 16 years! Her enthusiasm is contagious, leaving both fellow bankers and Fiesta aficionados mesmerized.

A former Miss Fiesta, Karen knows all the Fiesta tricks of the trade. We sat down with her to get some insider tips for navigating the "biggest party of the year" and building a medal collection that would make any Fiesta enthusiast proud.

Karen, what's your favorite part of Fiesta?

Karen: "Well, how can you pick just one? I love the parades. The energy is incredible, and they are a true San Antonio tradition."

Any events you recommend in particular?

Karen: "NIOSA is definitely a must-do. They have incredible art exhibitions and the atmosphere is fantastic. But honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the parades – there are so many to choose from! Just pick a route, grab a spot, and soak it all in."

What's your go-to Fiesta attire?

Karen: "I'm a big fan of flower crowns. They're a fun and festive way to add a pop of color. For me, I opt for a comfy skirt with pockets – perfect for stashing essentials and avoiding the need for a purse! As for the top, I usually go for something colorful to match the spirit of the season."

Any secret Fiesta wisdom for newbies?

Karen: "Absolutely! Comfort is key. Fiesta is a marathon, not a sprint, so wear comfy clothes and closed-toe shoes. It gets crowded, and you'll thank me later for the extra protection. But most importantly, have fun, smile often and practice your grito!  'Viva Fiesta!' is how we celebrate here in San Antonio.”
