Tell us about your role at Broadway Bank.
Suzi: My current role at Broadway is Financial Center Manager (FCM) at the Nacogdoches Financial Center. I’ve been in this position since October 1, 2024. I work with my team to go above and beyond for our customers by building long-lasting relationships. As the leader of my team, I ensure that I am continually building myself and my team members up so we can better service our customers.

What is a typical day like for you?
Suzi
: Being a leader means that the team feeds off my energy, so every day I come in ready to get everyone energized! We start our days with team check-ins to make sure we’re all prepared for the week. Once the doors open, we’re all ready for the day and know what our goals are. I work closely with each banker and am readily available for any questions or customers that may come in. It’s easy to get lost in the day-to-day activities, so I make sure we capitalize on the small wins every day!

What motivates you?
Suzi
: My biggest motivation as an FCM is having the opportunity to build up my team members. I’ve had a long career in the financial industry, and I understand that to have a successful branch, the most important thing we can do as managers is build up our team. Watching my team move up in their career and accomplish their goals has always been the biggest inspiration for me to continue growing myself. I want to always be an example of what hard work and perseverance can bring.

Why did you pursue a career in banking?
Suzi
: I ultimately pursued a career in banking because it seemed like a steady place to work fresh out of high school. After the first few years, I realized how much I enjoyed helping people grow financially and overcoming obstacles that arose. Today, as a Broadway Banker, I enjoy cultivating relationships with my customers and being there for all their milestones. I have customers who have graduated college, retired, had kids, moved for their jobs, and more. It’s such an amazing experience to be there for someone’s journey.

Tell us a little bit about your career path.
Suzi
: After high school, I got a job in the service industry. I knew that wasn’t a long-term job and aspired for something more rewarding. I eventually found myself working for a big bank call center. Having worked in the service industry, I missed talking with customers face to face, so I eventually moved to a financial branch as a part-time teller. Through my time at that company, I worked my way up to an assistant manager and built strong relationships with my managers.

It was in 2019 that a mentor of mine, Robin Bosch, recruited me to Broadway Bank. She raved about Broadway’s culture and values and encouraged me to apply for one of their available positions. Everything fell into place, and I was hired on as a Relationship Banker III. Starting in this position allowed me to learn the systems and procedures and become familiar with my job role—all while building customer connections. After a year and a half, I moved into the Senior Relationship Banker (SRB) role at the Downtown Financial Center. I knew I was ready to get back into a leadership role. After nearly three years in those positions, I determined that my goal was to become an FCM and lead a team. I’ve successfully reached that goal as of this past October and have enjoyed learning this new role. I’m not sure what my future at Broadway Bank holds, but I am excited to continue excelling in my role and learning as much as I can. I can’t imagine working at any other financial institution!

What separates Broadway Bank from other banks?
Suzi
: For many of our customers, Broadway is more than just their bank. It’s a place to obtain advice, share memories or experiences, have a laugh or a cry, and build connections. Over my five years here, I’ve built so many connections and shared memories with my customers and team members. If you want a bank that truly cares about your well-being and helping you grow, Broadway is the place to bank! I will forever advocate for a local bank experience after working at Broadway. My customers know when something arises, they can always call me or email me, and I will be there to help them navigate whatever it is. We are different from other banks because we truly care about what happens to our customers and use every day to make an impact on their lives. We go above and beyond and will always try to offer solutions when we can.
