Broadway Bank Summer Internship Experience
At Broadway Bank, investing in our community starts with investing in future leaders. Each summer, we welcome a select group of college students into our internship program, offering them the opportunity to gain real-world experience, learn from our dedicated professionals, and discover what it means to work in community banking with purpose.

“One of the things we do best is provide a rotational approach to allowing our interns to observe how several departments, not just their own, interact to support the company’s strategic priorities,” said Chelsea Weld, Assistant Vice President and Talent Management Officer at Broadway Bank. “I’m very proud of the program our organization has developed because it provides students with a realistic job preview and allows Broadway Bank an opportunity to invest in our future workforce.”
This year, we’re excited to spotlight our five outstanding summer interns who have contributed their time, curiosity, and passion to departments across Broadway Bank. Learn more about their journeys below.

Natalie Anderson
Hometown: San Jose, California
University: Trinity University
Majors: Finance and Accounting
Departments: Finance, Product Management, Audit
Natalie has thrived in Broadway’s collaborative environment. She credits the bank’s welcoming professionals with helping her grow both personally and professionally, saying, “I’ve felt encouraged to ask questions, build trust, and contribute in meaningful ways.”
Her internship helped bridge classroom learning with real-world applications, especially in financial reporting and analysis. She’s particularly proud of her work in liquidity-based reporting and transaction accounts—fast-paced, data-driven areas that piqued her interest and aligned with her long-term career goals.

Ethan Cung
Hometown: Sugar Land, TX
University: Texas A&M University
Major: Finance
Department: Commercial Credit
Ethan’s favorite part of his internship has been the people. Whether working with the executive team or collaborating with peers, he’s found Broadway’s culture welcoming and enriching. “It’s been great to see people in their professional element, but even better to truly get to know them as human beings,” he shared.
Throughout the summer, Ethan applied classroom theory to real-world credit analysis, learning firsthand that financial deals are rarely straightforward. One standout project involved a detailed risk analysis of Broadway’s critical vendors. Through this work, he sharpened his technical skills and gained practical experience drafting risk memos and presenting findings—making a meaningful contribution to the bank's risk management efforts.

Gopi Burugapalli
Hometown: Houston, TX
University: University of Houston
Majors: Supply Chain and Logistics Technology
Departments: Procurement Management
Gopi’s internship at Broadway Bank has been a transformative experience, shaped by the mentorship and support of the procurement team. He describes the team as “incredibly knowledgeable, process-driven, and always willing to share their expertise,” adding that their guidance has helped him bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world supply chain operations.
From day one, Gopi felt welcomed into a culture of continuous improvement. He’s contributed to projects focused on streamlining procurement workflows, enhancing inventory visibility, and identifying risks before they impact operations. “Being part of such an efficient and forward-thinking team has strengthened my passion for process optimization and risk mitigation,” he says. “It’s been exciting to see how even small changes can drive meaningful results.”
This internship has not only reinforced Gopi’s long-term career goals in supply chain strategy it’s also given him a deeper appreciation for the power of collaboration, innovation, and purposeful work.

Keshav Leva
Hometown: San Antonio, TX
Department: Summer Rotational Intern
For Keshav, this internship has been a first-time experience in the professional world—and an eye-opening one. He especially appreciated rotating through various departments, learning how different teams work together to support Broadway’s mission.
What surprised him most was the complexity behind the scenes of banking. “Before this internship, I thought banks were just about deposits and tellers,” he said. “There’s a whole world behind the curtain.” Inspired by what he’s learned, Keshav hopes to launch a financial literacy program for students in his community.

Marina Vela
Hometown: San Antonio, TX
University: Texas A&M University – College Station
Major: Finance
Department: Commercial Credit
Marina was drawn to Broadway Bank’s culture—and it exceeded her expectations. “The company truly lives its core values,” she said. “Everyone is welcoming and willing to teach.” That spirit of collaboration made her summer both educational and inspiring.
One of her biggest takeaways has been understanding how interconnected banking functions are. Her summer project focused on Broadway’s annual financial review of third-party vendors, giving her experience in financial statement analysis and risk assessment. She’ll be presenting her findings to senior leadership—an opportunity that highlights just how valuable interns can be in real-world banking.
