Overdraft Coverage Options

An overdraft is when you spend more money than you have available in your account. An overdraft can happen anytime you make a purchase, schedule a payment or withdraw cash, and you don't have enough to cover it. Overdraft coverage gives you control over what the bank does if your checking account should drop below a zero balance.

Add or Remove Overdraft Coverage

You have the ability to choose whether or not Broadway Bank will pay overdrafts for ATM and everyday debit card transactions. You can add (opt-in) or remove (opt-out) overdraft service at any time simply by clicking the button below.

If You Add (Opt-In)
Your debit or ATM card will work as it usually does. If the bank authorizes an ATM or debit card transaction despite your account having insufficient funds, you will incur an overdraft fee of $35 (as set forth in our fee schedule). Adding overdraft coverage or “opting-in” means you will continue to have coverage in case of a mistake in account balancing or when you may be short on cash. We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. There is no fee for this overdraft coverage if you never use it.

If You Remove (Opt-Out)
Your debit or ATM card will work as it usually does as long as you have sufficient funds in your account. If you attempt to use your ATM or debit card and the funds are not available, your transaction will be declined and no fee will be assessed.

Add or remove (opt-in or opt-out) overdraft coverage for your ATM and everyday debit card transactions simply by clicking on the button below to complete your request online. Overdraft Coverage

We provide Overdraft Coverage on your personal checking account to cover transactions that exceed the available balance in your account. With overdraft coverage:
  • The bank authorizes overdrafts on your account to pay items.
  • You must add or remove overdraft service for ATM and everyday debit card transactions.

Linked Account

Protect your account from overdraft fees by linking your personal checking account to another Broadway Bank checking, savings or money market accounts. If there are no available funds in your account to cover your transactions, the bank will transfer funds from the available balance in your linked account in $100 increments to cover the overdraft.
  • You designate the linked checking or savings account.
  • Funds are transferred in increments of $100 provided there are adequate funds available in the linked account. There is no fee if you do not use the service.
  • Some types of accounts have transaction limitations. Transfers made under this program do count as transactions.

Overdraft Protection Line of Credit

An Overdraft Protection Line of Credit (ODLOC)1 can be used to cover shortages in your account. Funds available on the line will be transferred to your account in $250 increments to cover items presented that would cause an overdraft. You will pay interest on the outstanding balance on the line and there is a required monthly payment. Overall, the costs may be less than overdraft and NSF fees. With an ODLOC:
  • Funds are transferred in $250 increments.
  • You pay interest on balance.
  • Your monthly payment is required.
  • You pay no annual fees.

Overdraft FAQs

The overdraft coverage affects ATM and everyday debit card transactions only. Checks, ACH and recurring debit card transactions are not impacted.
Everyday debit card transactions include one-time purchases or payments at grocery stores, gas stations or other merchants. Recurring debit card transactions are set up to pay automatically and include recurring insurance premiums and gym membership dues.
We understand that you may occasionally need to make a transaction that exceeds the balance in your account. Your authorization allows Broadway Bank to consider paying the overdraft.
Overdrafts are paid at the bank's discretion. We do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any transaction type when there is not enough money available in your account to cover the item.
Yes, your ATM and everyday debit card transactions will be declined if there are insufficient funds available in your account to cover a purchase.
There is no fee for this coverage if you never use it. If the bank authorizes an item that overdraws your account, a fee of $35 will be charged (as outlined in our fee schedule).
Yes.  Broadway’s Overdraft Protection (linked accounts) allows us to automatically transfer from your Broadway savings account, checking account or an overdraft line of credit if the balance in your checking account isn’t sufficient to pay an item. However, because the Overdraft Protection program is part of our Overdraft Services system, if you don’t have enough money in your checking account, your everyday debit card purchases and ATM withdrawals will be declined, regardless of the balance in your linked accounts, unless you add (opt-in) to overdraft coverage.
